“Who Do You Say That I Am?” Opening weekend festivities:
Visit Taos for a major exhibit of progressive sacred art in May 2007. JHS Gallery will show works by five cutting-edge artists who use a spiritual perspective to examine issues such as lesbian and gay rights, gender justice, peace and environmental protection. This landmark show takes its title from the words of Christ: “Who Do You Say That I Am?” Opening weekend festivities will kick off with a banquet honoring the artists Fri., May 11, 2007 at a restaurant near JHS Gallery, just off the historic Taos Plaza. The exhibit opens Sat., May 12 with a gala reception. The show features ten artists, including these whose work is displayed on JesusInLove.org: Jill Ansell, F. Douglas Blanchard, Becki Jayne Harrelson, Janet McKenzie and Sandra Yagi. “We are contributing a visual element to the debate over some of the most important, controversial issues today,” said gallery co-owner Jodi Simmons. “We chose this art to awaken awareness of the sacred in all beings and life itself, even in the face of war, discrimination and ecological destruction. By titling the show with a question, we hope to stimulate dialogue of mind and heart, and encourage consciousness of Love,” she added. JHS Gallery is a destination gallery for sacred art in New Mexico. For more details and registration info, contact info@JesusInLove.org.
